Vaping

vaping
What is vaping?

Vaping involves using a device, typically known as an e-cigarette or simply a 'vape,' to heat a liquid, often containing nicotine, into an inhalable vapor. This practice serves as a substitute for smoking tobacco, bypassing the burning of chemically processed plant matter and consequently avoiding the myriad of hazardous substances found in it.

The popularity of vaping has surged as a smoking alternative, with many enthusiasts adopting it as a cessation tool.

How do I make big clouds?

To produce large vapor clouds, focus on these key elements:

  1. Use sub-ohm coils with low resistance in your tank. These coils allow for more efficient heating and vapor production.
  2. Ensure maximum airflow in your tank. Opt for sub-ohm tanks featuring wide air channels and adjustable airflow options for optimal performance.
  3. Utilize a vape device capable of high wattage output. Higher power settings contribute to more substantial vapor production.
  4. Fill your tank with high VG (vegetable glycerine) E-Liquid. VG, a thick and flavorless liquid found in various food, medicine, and cosmetic products, excels in creating dense vapor when heated.

The high VG content is crucial. More VG in your e-liquid equates to larger clouds. However, this also requires a tank with ample airflow and large wicking holes or significant cotton wick surface area to absorb the liquid quickly. This prevents the coil from dry-burning and ensures consistent vapor production.

The combination of high wattage and low resistance allows for more power to pass through the coil, vaporizing more liquid and consequently producing bigger clouds.

Does vaping feel similar to smoking?

Vaping offers a sensation somewhat similar to smoking, but with notable differences. The key factor in mimicking the feeling of smoke in the throat while vaping is the strength of the nicotine in the e-liquid. Higher nicotine concentrations produce a more pronounced 'throat hit,' resembling the impact of tobacco smoke. In contrast, lower nicotine strengths result in a milder sensation, and nicotine-free e-liquids typically lack this throat hit.

Nicotine salt (nic salt) e-liquids provide a unique experience. Despite their high nicotine content, they deliver a very smooth inhalation. This is designed to more closely replicate the smoking experience, focusing on how quickly the body absorbs nicotine rather than the intensity of the throat hit.

What is the difference between "mouth to lung" & "direct to lung" vaping?

"Mouth to Lung" (MTL) and "Direct to Lung" (DTL) vaping differ primarily in the inhalation technique and the type of e-liquids used.

  1. Mouth to Lung (MTL) Vaping: This method involves drawing the vapor into the mouth first and then inhaling it into the lungs. It's akin to the way one smokes a cigarette. MTL vaping is often associated with higher nicotine strength e-liquids and a higher PG (propylene glycol) ratio. PG contributes to the 'throat hit,' which can be too harsh for direct inhalation. MTL devices usually have tighter airflow, mimicking the resistance felt while smoking a cigarette.

  2. Direct to Lung (DTL) Vaping: In this style, the vapor is inhaled directly into the lungs, bypassing the mouth-holding step. This method is more similar to taking a deep breath. DTL vaping is typically paired with smoother, High-VG (vegetable glycerin) e-liquids, which are less harsh on the throat and produce larger vapor clouds. The devices used for DTL vaping generally allow for more airflow, facilitating a direct and less restricted inhalation into the lungs.

Disposable vapes

What is a disposable vape?

A disposable vape is an easy-to-use, beginner-friendly device ideal for first-time vapers. These compact, palm-sized vapes are inhale-activated and come prefilled with 2ml of 20mg nicotine salt vape juice. The puff count provided for disposable devices is an estimate from the manufacturer and is not guaranteed. Your vaping style can greatly influence this number. Frequent puffs or longer, deeper inhalations may decrease the total number of puffs available.

How do disposable vapes work?

Disposable vapes are designed for simplicity with inhale activation. Just inhale from the mouthpiece to start vaping. They provide a smooth MTL (mouth to lung) experience and are pre-filled with nicotine salt e-liquid, offering a similar technique to smoking a traditional cigarette.

Can disposable vapes be recharged or refilled?

No, disposable vapes are designed for single use only. They cannot be recharged or refilled. Once the e-liquid is depleted or the battery runs out, the device should be disposed of properly.

What are the pros of using disposable vapes?

The advantages include convenience, compact and lightweight design, beginner-friendly usage, a smooth throat hit from nicotine salt e-liquids, and a variety of flavors. They also require no maintenance and are less harmful than traditional cigarettes.

What are the cons of using disposable vapes?

The downsides include environmental impact due to single-use nature, short lifespan, potentially higher costs with frequent use, fewer flavor and strength options compared to refillable vapes, non-rechargeable batteries, and limited functionality.

Are disposable vapes suitable for quitting smoking?

Yes, disposable vapes are often used as a stepping stone for quitting smoking. They offer a similar sensation to smoking with a mouth-to-lung inhale and fast-acting nicotine delivery, making them a convenient option for those looking to transition away from cigarettes.

How do I dispose of a used disposable vape?

After the device is depleted, it should be disposed of responsibly. It's important not to throw them in the regular trash due to the electronic components and battery.
